Merlin

The figure of Merlin in Arthurian legend is best known as a wizard or mage. In Malory's version of the story, Merlin is a mentor to the King Arthur. He is instrumental in every aspect of Arthur's life from his conception to his education, his rise to power, and his vision of a kingdom ruled through justice and goodwill. In many retellings, Merlin is left to roam the earth after Arthur's death, waiting for "The Once and Future King" to return and resume his destiny.
